Characterisation of the Physical Chemical Processes Using the Fractal and Harmonic Analysis
Comparative cytogenetics of bed bug Cimex lectularius (Heteroptera: Cimicidae)
Sadílek, David ; Vilímová, Jitka (advisor) ; Ráb, Petr (referee)
Comparative cytogenetics of the bed bug Cimex lectularius (Heteroptera: Cimicidae) The human bed bug Cimex lectularius has started enormous spreading to all developed countries of temperate climate zone during the last ten years. Bed bug was almost eradicated by a mass use of DDT in these areas until the 70's in the 20th century. This temporal haematophagous ectoparasite occupies particularly human dwellings and bat roosts. Cimex lectularius shows unusual combination of cytogenetic characteristics, general for all Heteroptera, however, not usual for other organisms. The chromosomes are holokinetic, with completely achiasmatic meiosis and inverted meiosis of the sex chromosomes. Especialy remarkable feature is intraspecific variation of the number of the X chromosomes. The variable number of chromosomes of 43 populations of Cimex lectularius from the Czech Republic and 27 populations from other European countries was studied in the present study. The 10 variants of karyotype were found out by using the "hotplate spreading" method and the standard Giemsa staining. There were male karyotypes with 2n = 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 37, 42 and 47 chromosomes and two females with peculiar odd number of sex chromosomes X, 2n = 33 and 43, not complementary with any male. A stable number of 2n = 26 autosomes...
Multilevel selection theory
Mihulka, Tomáš ; Švorcová, Jana (advisor) ; Toman, Jan (referee)
Multilevel selection is an attempt to unify different approaches to the Level of selection problem. This paper examines the principles, starting points, variants and problems of this concept. Particular emphasis is placed on the relationship of this theory to Gene's-eye view and the presentation of evidence of the usefulness of Multilevel selection in analyzing evolutionary changes.
Population genetics of bees
Beranová, Tereza ; Straka, Jakub (advisor) ; Munclinger, Pavel (referee)
Bees are one of the most important group of all insect, which plays a significant role in crop pollination. This bachelor thesis is review of articles, which speaks about genetic diversity of Apidae (Apoidea, Anthophila) and factors, which influence genetic diversity of this family. This thesis represents anthhropogenic impact, such as urbanization and fragmentation, and impact, which was not caused by human population, such as, climate change and parasite impact, on bee population. Part of this thesis is created by bee life overview and basic information about population genetics. The aim of this work is finding extent of declining pollinator problem, especially wild bees and also naming the bacic methods, which are used in this work. Key words: population, DNA analysis, threats, conservation genetics, bees, biogeography

Island evolution in bats
Holá, Barbora ; Hulva, Pavel (advisor) ; Bartonička, Tomáš (referee)
Order Chiroptera is the only mammalian taxon capable of powered flight. This key adaptation allows for high dispersion capabilities, therefore bats are often the only colonizers of remote islands. More than half of all bat species inhabit islands, and nearly a quarter of them are the islands' endemic organisms. They colonize islands around the entire world, being exempt from only very small, isolated or inhospitable islands.. Island biogeography has an extraordinary importance in many aspects of evolutionary and ecological disciplines. Because of its relative simplicity, as well as the impoverished nature of island biota, emerging interactions between island populations can be better observed compared to mainland. Species that might succumb to extinction due to competition on the mainland may survive on islands. Richness of island biota is subject to two opposing forces, colonization and extinction. A dynamic equilibrium occurs when the probability of colonization and extinction is equal, meaning the number of species is constant, but the composition of species may vary. Isolation, fragmented distribution, and the small size of island populations can lead to speciation, but can also conversely reduce genetic diversity, adaptive capabilities and ultimately cause extinction. The degree of isolation,...

Changes in the level of selected demographic characteristics in the light of the past two censuses
Rychterová, Daniela ; Šimková, Martina (advisor) ; Cséfalvaiová, Kornélia (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to clarify the differences between the last two censuses, which took place in 2001 and 2011. Theoretical part is defined by the historical development of the census until 1991 and also details the theoretical requirements and differences, which consisted in changing the methodology of data collection a type of survey data. Case study in practical part of the thesis is comparing selected specific demographic indicators derived from the census. These data were economic generation, education, economic activity and commuting population in the districts of the Středočeský region. In the end, all the essential results of such studies are summarized and explained the difference to.
